How to change a burnt out LED license
plate light assembly on a 2008 to 2015 Fiat 500 with photo illustrated steps.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the "new" Type 312 (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013,
2014 and 2015) Fiat 500 hatchback car in changing a burnt out LED
license plate light bulb assembly in the tailgate door. Owners of other Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM vehicles such as the 4C, Giulia, 200, 300, Town & Country, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Renegade, Cherokee, Patriot, 1500, C/V Tradesman and ProMaster may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Replacement LED light bulb assemblies with their part number are as follows: Left Side # 68212035AA and Right Side # 68212034AA. The only tool needed to replace the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver. |

Remove Light Assembly |
Pry Back Retaining Clips |
Light Housing Disconnected |
Press in the small
black plastic release tab on the outer edge of the license plate light bulb
housing with the small flathead screwdriver. Pull the housing out of the tailgate door. Gently pry back the retaining clips on either side of the electrical connector before sliding the power plug straight out of its socket. (On the older Fiat 500 models, you may need to cut the wires on the old housing in order to install the newer style license plate light assembly.) |

Pop In Retaining Clip |
Push the power plug
straight in to the socket on the new license plate light. Re-insert the inner edge of the housing in first and then gently snap in the retaining clip on the outer edge. For more,
