Interior Door Panel Removal Guide
How to take off the plastic interior door
panels and upgrade the speakers in a 2nd generation 2011-2017 Chrysler 300.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the second generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016
& 2017) Chrysler 300, 300C or 300S sedan in removing the plastic
interior door panels in order to upgrade the OEM speaker, add
soundproofing material, fix a faulty electrical switch or replace a
broken power window motor. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM vehicles such as the Town & Country, 200, Pacifica, Avenger, Charger, Journey, Challenger, Dart, Durango, Magnum, Grand Caravan, Grand Cherokee, Renegade, Wrangler, Compass, Liberty, Patriot, ProMaster, 1500 and C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The tools needed to take off the door panels include a small flathead screwdriver, a plastic pry bar tool, a Phillips head screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers. The OEM door speaker and power window motor are held in place by Torx T25 star bit screws. |

The first steps are
to lower the power window all the way down and then open the door. Gently pry out the plastic trim piece located behind the door opener handle with a small flathead screwdriver or use a plastic automotive panel pry bar tool. Set the trim piece aside in a safe place. Then pry out the cover at the bottom of the well in the armrest. Set the door pull handle well cover aside in a safe place. |

Move to the inner
edge of the door panel and locate the plastic fastener. Gently push in the center piece of the fastener with a small flathead screwdriver to release it. |

Pry Out Base of Fastener |

Loosen Counterclockwise |
Pry out the base of
the fastener with the flathead screwdriver and set it aside in a safe place. Loosen the screw behind the door opener handle by turning it counterclockwise with a Phillips head screwdriver. |

Set the screw aside
in a safe place. Remove the screw at the bottom of the well in the armrest by turning it counterclockwise with the Phillips head screwdriver. Set it aside with the other screw. |

Rubber Bumper - Outer Edge |

Rubber Bumper Removed |
Move to the middle
outer edge of the door panel and locate the rubber bumper. Remove the rubber bumper by turning the screw counterclockwise with a Phillips head screwdriver. Set the rubber bumper and screw aside with the other screws. |

Pry Out Pop Rivets |
At this point, you
should have removed two plastic trim pieces, three screws and one plastic
pop rivet fastener. Place a large flathead screwdriver or a pry bar tool in between the bottom edge of the door panel and the metal door frame. Firmly pull out the bottom edge of the door panel to release the white plastic pop rivets. Continue pulling out the friction fasteners all along the bottom edge and both sides of the door panel. |

Lift the plastic door panel off the top of the door frame and tilt the top edge towards yourself. | ||

To disconnect the
door opener handle cable, use a pair of needle nose pliers to pinch together
the two plastic barbs on the black plastic collar. Pull the black plastic collar out of the bracket. Swing the cable away from yourself. |

Lift Out Metal Cylinder |
Disconnect Power Plug |
Switch Panel Power Plug |
Lift the metal
cylinder at the end of the door opener handle cable out of its socket. Press in the release tab on the white plastic electrical connector before sliding it straight out of its socket. |

Green Plastic Plug Removed |
Disconnect LED Light Plug |
Door Courtesy Step Light |
Press in the
release tab on the green plastic electrical connector before sliding it
straight out of the bottom of the switch panel. Disconnect the white plastic power plug for the LED light in the armrest. |

Disconnect Light Plug |
Door Panel Removed |
Metal Door Frame |
Disconnect the
power plug for the courtesy step light bulb housing at the bottom of the
door panel. Set the plastic door panel aside in a safe place. The OEM door speaker is located at the bottom inner corner of the door frame. |

Hold Panel Near Frame |
Both the OEM door
speaker and the power window motor are held in place by
Torx T-25 screws. I recommend buying new speakers from Amazon since you can verify which speakers will fit your vehicle and also whether or not you will need an adapter mounting bracket. To help reduce road noise and allow your new speakers to sound their best, apply some Dynamat Sound Deadener material to the metal door frame. It will stop vibrations and rattles when you crank up the volume. To replace the door panel, hold it near the metal door frame and tilt the top edge towards yourself. |

Push in the electrical connectors for the step light, armrest LED light and the switch panel. | ||

Push in the small white power plug in to its socket above the door opener handle assembly. | ||
Door Opener Handle Cable |
Re-Insert Metal Cylinder |
Push In Black Plastic Collar |
Lower the metal
cylinder at the end of the door opener handle in to its socket. Push the black plastic collar in to the bracket until the two tabs or "prongs" snap securely in to place. |

Re-Insert Door Lock Stalk |
Lower Door Panel In Place |
Line Up Yellow Fastener |
Re-insert the door
lock stalk in to its hole at the top outer corner of the door panel. Lower the door panel down on to the top lip of the metal door frame. Re-insert the yellow fastener on the back of the door panel with its corresponding hole in the metal door frame. |

Firmly Tap In Pop Rivets |
Secure Fasteners |
Line up the white
plastic pop rivets with their holes in the door frame. Firmly tap in the friction fasteners all along the bottom edge and both sides of the door panel. |

Re-Attach Rubber Bumper |
Re-Insert Plastic Fastener |
Fastener - Inner Edge |
Re-attach the
rubber bumper along the outer edge of the door panel by turning it clockwise
with the Phillips head screwdriver. Push the black plastic pop rivet in to place on the inner edge of the door panel. |

Tighten Phillips Screw |
Replace Armrest Screw |
Re-Insert Trim Piece |
Replace the
Phillips head screw behind the door opener handle and tighten it in the
clockwise direction. Replace the other screw in to the bottom of the well in the armrest. Pop the plastic trim piece back in to place behind the door opener handle. |

Push the other trim
cover back in to place at the bottom of the well in the armrest. Sit inside the car, close the door and verify that the door opener handle, door lock stalk, power window switch and power door lock switch all still work properly. For more, check out all of my
