Grasp Old Wiper Blade
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the fourth generation (2017, 2018, 2019 and possibly also the refreshed 2020, 2021 and 2022) Kia Sportage SUV in changing the rear wiper blade on the back windshield window.

Owners of other Kia, Hyundai and Genesis vehicles such as the Niro, Optima, Soul, Forte, Rio, Stinger, Cadenza, K900, Sorento, Telluride, Sedona, Kona, Santa Fe, Tucson, Elantra, Sonata, Accent, Rondo, Carens, Veloster, Ioniq, Nexo, Palisade, G70, G80 and G90 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM rear wiper blade size in inches is 12" and the part number is Kia / Hyundai 98850A4000 (also known as 98850  A4000 or 98850-A4000).

A compatible replacement aftermarket 12" wiper blade is the Bosch H312.

No tools are needed to remove the old blade or install the new blade.

Old Blade Detached
The first step is to lift the rear wiper arm off the back window until it remains in the raised position by itself.

Gently rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle until you feel resistance.

Then continue carefully rotating the old wiper blade away until you feel the mounting bar pop out of the "C" shaped socket at the end of the wiper arm.

Pull the old blade off the end of the wiper arm.

New Wiper Blade
Once the blade has been detached from the wiper arm, you'll clearly be able to see the mounting bar and two small "pegs" in the center of the blade.

You'll also be able to see the "C" shaped socket and the two grooves on the wiper arm.

I recommend placing a towel in between the wiper arm and the glass to prevent from having it smack down on the window and possibly scratch, chip, crack or shatter the back windshield.

The original OEM wiper blade part number is Kia / Hyundai 98850A4000.

A compatible replacement aftermarket 12" wiper blade is the Bosch H312.

Line up the new wiper blade with the end of the arm.

The rubber blade should be pointing away from the window and towards the right (passenger) side of the SUV.

Pass the end of the wiper arm through the opening in the center of the new blade.

Rotate the new wiper blade towards the arm.

Continue rotating the wiper blade towards the arm until you feel the mounting bar pop into the "C" shaped socket and the two "pegs" or "nubs" on the new blade slide into their corresponding grooves or slots on the wiper arm.

Lower Blade To Window
Once the blade is parallel with the wiper arm, double check that it is securely attached.

Gently lower the blade down to the window.

For the best wiper performance, thoroughly clean off the windshield and apply a window treatment product that will help repel water from the glass such as Rain-X.

Be sure to write down the wiper blade change in your vehicle's service records.
