This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the seventh generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & possibly
also the revised 2015) Dodge Charger sedan in cleaning or changing
the A/C system's cabin air filter in the HVAC blower motor housing. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge and RAM vehicles such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Avenger, Challenger, Journey, Dart, Durango, Grand Caravan, and Ram C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement cabin air filters with their part numbers are as follows: Fram CF11668, TYC 800165P, Wix # 24048, Mopar 6807 1668AA, Mahle Original LA 782, Ecogard XC26176, ACDelco CF2287 and Hastings AFC1536. No tools are necessary to access the filter. A wet/dry shop vacuum may be useful for cleaning the existing filter in order to re-use it. |

Open Filter Access Cover |
The first few steps are to open the hood, move to the passenger side of the vehicle and locate the slotted rectangular access cover in the black plastic cowl. Gently push the two retaining clips on the front edge towards the rear of the vehicle to release them. Lift up the front edge of the cover and pull out the tabs on the rear edge. Set the cowl cover aside in a safe place. Then gently push the two sides of the black plastic filter access cover to release the retaining clips. Swing the filter cover open towards the rear of the vehicle. |

Slide Out Old Air Filter |
Inspect Both Sides |
Clean With Vacuum |
Slide the old cabin
air filter straight out of the slot in the blower motor housing. Inspect both sides of the old filter. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with dirt, dust, insects, leaves, pollen, twigs, hair and other debris, it should be replaced with a new one. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum. |

"Rear of Car" Air Flow Arrows |
If you have a
crevice attachment for your vacuum, carefully clean out any visible debris
in the filter slot. I'd recommend buying the Fram CF11668 cabin air filter since it has the best reviews on Amazon. It also has Arm & Hammer baking soda in the filter to help prevent musty or moldy odors. Orientate the new or cleaned filter with the "Rear of Car" or "Air Flow" arrows pointing towards the back of the vehicle. Slide the new cabin air filter down in to the slot. |

Re-insert the tabs
on the rear edge of the cowl cover with the cut out sections. Gently push down the front edge of the cowl cover to secure the two retaining clips. For more,
