This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 2nd generation 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012 Jeep Liberty in replacing a burnt out map light bulb.

Owners of other Jeep, Dodge or Chrysler vehicles such as the Cherokee, Compass, Patriot, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Grand Caravan, Nitro, Dart, Avenger, Challenger, Durango, Journey, Charger, Town & Country, 300, and 200 may also find these instructions to be helpful.

A replacement map light bulb is part # 214-2 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko, and Lumapro.

You may also choose to replace them with brighter 42mm or 41mm Festoon LED bulbs.

The only tool needed to replace the map light bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry open the lens cover.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver into the small notch on the left (driver) side of the translucent map light lens cover.

Gently pry the left side of the lens cover out of the housing and swing it open to the right. The cover is held in place to the housing by a plastic hinge on the right side.

Use your thumb and forefinger to pull the old map light bulb straight out of the socket.
