This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the fifth generation (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and probably
also the refreshed 2018 model year) Jeep Cherokee in changing the
rear wiper blade on the back windshield window. Owners of other Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat and RAM vehicles such as the Compass, Renegade, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Patriot, 500, Town & Country, 200, 300, Pacifica, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, RAM 1500, C/V Tradesman and ProMaster Van may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM rear wiper blade size in inches is 14". A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Trico 14-A, Anco AR-14A, Valeo R14H, Michelin 9514 and ACDelco 8-214A. No tools are needed to remove the old wiper blade and install the new one. |

Hinged Base Cap Open |
Lift Wiper Arm Off Window |
|
The first step is
to gently pull off the cover on the base of the wiper arm. The cover is hinged on the left (driver) side of the SUV. Then lift the wiper arm off the back windshield until it remains in the raised position by itself. |
||
Rotate Away Old Blade |
Pop Bar Out of Socket |
|
Rotate the old
wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle. Continue rotating the wiper blade away from the wiper arm. You will feel the mounting bar in the center of the old wiper blade pop out of the "C" shaped socket at the end of the wiper arm. |

I recommend buying
the Trico 14-A rear wiper blade
since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. Line up the new wiper blade with the wiper arm. The rubber blade should be pointing away from the back window and towards the right (passenger) side of the vehicle. |

Mounting Bar - Center Blade |
Line Up New Wiper Blade |
|
Insert the mounting bar in the center of the new wiper blade in to the "C" shaped socket.
Snap Bar In To Socket |
Rotate Blade Towards Arm |
|
Rotate the new wiper blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm.
Blade Parallel To Arm |
Lower Wiper To Glass |
|
Double check that
the new wiper blade is securely attached to the wiper arm. Gently lower the wiper blade down to the back window. |
||
Swing Closed Base Cover |
Wiper Blade Replaced |
|
Swing the cover
closed over the mounting bolt and nut at the base of the wiper arm. For the best wiper performance, thoroughly clean off the back window and apply a glass treatment product that repels water such as Rain-X. For more,
