The Kanapaha Botanical Gardens are located in Gainesville, FL near the University of Florida. Even though our visit was during a drought, the gardens still contained many beautiful blooming flowers.
On my way to another event, I saw a group of helicopters on display near the Sante Fe Community College parking lot in Gainesville FL. It was a stop on the national American Heroes Air Show tour.
The U.S.S. Alabama Battleship BB-60 was retired from active military service after World War II and was donated to the state from which it was named.
