This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015,
2016 and 2017) Volvo XC60 T5 SUV in changing a burnt out low beam,
high beam or front turn signal light bulb in the headlight housings. Owners of other Volvo vehicles such as the XC90, XC70, S90, S80, S60, S40, C30, C70, V90, V70, V60 and V40 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # H9 and Front Turn Signal # PY24W (also known as PWY24W or PWY24WSV). The tools needed to access and replace the headlight bulbs include a flathead screwdriver and a Torx T20 star bit screwdriver. |

Gently Pull Off Housing |
The first two steps
are to open the hood and then move to the side of the SUV with the burnt out
headlight bulb. In order to access the light bulbs, you'll have to detach the headlight assembly from the front bumper and engine bay. Luckily, Volvo engineers have made the process very easy. Locate the two black plastic locking pins (A.K.A. "stakes" or "spikes") attached to the top of the headlight housing. Firmly slide out the inner and outer lock pins from their slots. Set the two pins aside in a safe place. Gently pull the headlight housing off the front of the SUV. |

Electrical Connector |
Push Down Release Tab |
If you just need to
replace a burnt out front turn signal light bulb, you can easily do it at
this point.
I recommend disconnecting the electrical connector so you can set the headlight assembly on a soft surface to replace any of the bulbs to prevent from scratching the plastic lens or the bumper cover. Use a flathead screwdriver to push down the release tab on the black plastic electrical connector before sliding the plug straight out of its socket. |

Disconnect Power Plug |
Rest Housing On Towel |
Turn Over - Access Cover |
Set the headlight
assembly down on a soft surface such as towel to protect the plastic lens
from being scratched or marred. To replace the low beam and high beam bulbs, you'll need to remove the plastic access cover. |

Torx T-20 star bit screwdriver. Set the 4 screws aside in a safe place. |
