Gently Pry Off Lens Cover
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Toyota Yaris in changing a burnt out map (A.K.A. "dome") light bulb in the overhead headliner housing.

Owners of other Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles such as the Corolla, Matrix, Prius, Camry, RAV4, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, Venza, Highlander, Avalon, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, IS 250, ES 350, GS 350, tC, xB, xD, iQ and FR-S may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement light bulb part number is 2825.

You can also use a brighter 2825 LED bulb.

The only tool needed to access and replace the bulbs is a plastic pry bar tool used to pry off the translucent plastic lens cover.

Pull Out Old Light Bulb
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend either covering a flathead screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or use a plastic automotive panel pry bar tool.

Insert the blade of the tool in between the edge of the translucent plastic lens cover and the overhead light housing.

Gently pry off the lens cover. Try to avoid using excessive force. It should pop off relatively easily.

Set the lens cover aside in a safe place.

If the old light bulbs were recently turned on, be careful when you remove them since they might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

If you trouble gripping the old bulb, try putting on a latex rubber glove for extra grip.

Test New Map Lights
Gently snap in the lens cover to secure the retaining clips.

Test the new map / dome light bulbs by pressing the "On/Off" buttons.

I recommend moving the middle rocker switch to the "Door" position so that the lights will turn on when ever a passenger door is opened.
