Toyota Tacoma Vanity Mirror Light Bulb Replacement Guide
How to change a burnt out vanity mirror light bulb in the sun visor of a 2nd generation 2005-2015 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

This automotive maintenance DIY tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 or 2015) Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in changing a burnt out vanity mirror light bulb located in the sun visor.

Owners of other Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles such as the Yaris, Matrix, Prius, Camry, Corolla, Sienna, RAV4, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, Venza, Highlander, Avalon, Sequoia, Hilux, Land Cruiser, IS 250, ES 350, GS 350, tC, xB, xD, iQ and FR-S may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

Replacement miniature "fuse" type 12V light bulbs with their part numbers including the following:  TS-14V1CP or # 6614F, ACDelco # 13502343 and Eiko # 40842.

You may also choose to use a brighter LED unit.

The only tool needed to access and replace the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the plastic lens cover.

Carefully Pry Out Bulb
These pictures are of the passenger side sun visor.

The first step is to slide open the vanity mirror cover to access the light housing.

Carefully insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch on the left side of the translucent plastic lens cover.

Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

Either pull out the old bulb with your fingers or very carefully pry out the old bulb at one of the metal end caps with the flathead screwdriver.

Empty Bulb Socket
Do not apply pressure to the glass part of the old bulb to prevent from having it shatter and send shards of glass flying in to your face or eyes.

Line Up Lens Cover
Push a new miniature fuse bulb such as the TS-14V1CP, TS-14V1.5CP36, Eiko 40842 or 6614F straight in to the socket.

If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try flipping it around 180 degrees in the socket.

If the new bulb is working properly, it should light up immediately.

Slide Mirror Cover Closed
Line up the translucent plastic lens cover and gently snap it back in to place.

If the new light bulb didn't turn on, test it by opening and closing the cover or press the "Unlock" button on the key fob to activate the interior lights.
