Owners of other Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles such as the Yaris, Matrix, Prius, Camry, Corolla, Sienna, RAV4, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, Venza, Highlander, Avalon, Sequoia, Hilux, Land Cruiser, IS 250, ES 350, GS 350, tC, xB, xD, iQ and FR-S may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The first few steps
are to sit in the front passenger seat, open the glove box and empty out the

Gently lower the
glove box down to the passenger floor mat. The rectangular shaped black plastic filter access cover is held in place to the HVAC blower motor housing by two retaining clips on the top edge. Gently pull back the tabs towards yourself to release the retaining clips. |

Swing Open Hinged Cover |
Slide Out Old Air Filter |
Once the two clips

Inspect Both Sides |
micronAir TY02116P |
Back Side of Filter |
Inspect both sides
of the old air filter. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with dirt, dust, pollen, hair, insects, leaves, twigs and other debris, it should be replaced with a new element. I recommend buying the TYC 800038P cabin air filter since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. If you've had a problem with your A/C system smelling musty or moldy, try using the Fram CF10374 "Fresh Breeze" filter which has Arm & Hammer baking soda and carbon in it to help absorb odors. |
