This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and also the updated 2015 & 2016 model years) Toyota Sienna minivan in troubleshooting an electrical problem by checking or changing a blown fuse or relay in either the engine bay or passenger compartment fuse panels.

Owners of other Toyota vehicles with similar fuse boxes such as the Tacoma, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, Hilux, Venza, Highlander, 4Runner, Sequoia, RAV4 and Land Cruiser, may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

Assortment boxes of new low profile mini blade fuses in a variety of amperage ratings (5, 10, 15, 20, etc) can be purchased in stores such as Wal-Mart, Advance Auto Parts, Pep Boys, Napa Auto Parts and online at Amazon.

A white plastic fuse puller tool should be included near the center of the engine bay fuse block.

If the tool is missing, you could also use a pair of needle nose pliers.

The engine bay fuse box is located at the right side of the engine bay next to the 12V automotive battery and the air filter box.

Press in the release tab on the front edge of the cover and pull it off.

There is a fuse location diagram on the underside of the cover.

The white plastic fuse puller tool is located near the middle of the fuse block in between two electrical relays. Pull the tool straight out of its holder.

The interior fuse panel in the passenger compartment of the minivan is located under the dash board near the driver's left knee.

Gently pull off the tan plastic fuse panel cover. There is a fuse location diagram provided on the outside of the cover and also another one in the owner's manual.

Push In New Electrical Fuse
Press the larger end of the fuse puller tool to open the jaws, place it over the fuse you'd like to check and pull the old fuse straight out of the block.

Hold the old fuse up to a light source. If the thin metal strip inside the fuse is intact, it is most likely still good.

If the metal bar inside the old fuse is broken or "burnt", it should be replaced with a new one of the same amperage rating (5, 10, 15, 20, etc.).

Even if the old fuse is not "blown", you should still change it as part of your electrical issue troubleshooting process.

Replace Interior Panel Cover
Push the new low profile mini blade fuse straight down in to the socket.

If necessary, you can replace a blown fuse with a slightly taller standard mini blade fuse which will just stick out of the socket a bit.

Replace the fuse puller tool in to its holder at the center of the engine bay fuse panel.

Push the engine bay fuse box cover back in place over the panel.

Snap the rectangular plastic cover back in place over the interior fuse panel below the dashboard.
