This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the third generation (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012)
Toyota RAV4 in replacing a burnt out cargo or "trunk" area light
bulb in the back swing out door. Owners of other Toyota, Lexus and Scion SUV, hatchback, minivan or crossover vehicles such as the Matrix, Prius, Sienna, FJ Cruiser, Venza, Highlander, 4Runner, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, GX 460, RX 350, LX 570, iQ, xB, and xD may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement cargo area light bulb is part # DE3022 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko, and Putco. You can also use a brighter DE3022 LED bulb. The only tool needed to replace the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the housing. You may also use a knife or metal nail file. |

Pop Off Rear Plastic Cover |
Power Plug Disconnected |
Pull Out Old Bulb |
Insert the blade of
the flathead screwdriver in between the edge of the cargo area light housing
and the plastic interior panel. Gently pry out the light housing. An optional step is to disconnect the power plug by pressing the release tab and sliding it straight off the rear of the housing. Pop off the light grey plastic cover on the back of the light housing. |

||
Push In New DE3022 Bulb |
Snap On Rear Cover |
Push On Power Connector |
Pull the old bulb
out of the socket and push in a new #
DE3022 bulb. If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, it might be polarized. Try flipping it around 180 degrees in the socket. Snap on the light grey plastic rear cover on the housing and push on the power connector. |
||
Insert Wires First |
Pop In Other Side |
Flip Switch - Test New Bulb |
Insert the end of
the housing with the wires in first and then snap the other side in to
place. Test the new cargo area light bulb by flipping the rocker switch to the "On" position. For more,
