This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015) Toyota Prius hybrid hatchback in replacing the coin cell battery in the smart key fob.

Owners of the previous 2nd generation 2004-2009 Prius and other Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles such as the Yaris, Corolla, Matrix, Camry, Sienna, Avalon, Highlander, RAV4, FJ Cruiser, Venza, 4Runner, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra, ES350, IS250, IS350, LS460, GS300, GS350, SC430, RX450h, tC, FR-S, iQ, xD, and xB may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement smart key fob battery is part # CR1632 from manufacturers such as Panasonic, Duracell, and Engergizer.

The only tool needed to access the battery is a small flathead screwdriver.

You could also use a coin, butter knife, nail file or a small plastic pry bar tool.
