This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013) Toyota Prius hybrid hatchback in replacing a burnt out license plate light bulb.

Owners of the previous 2nd generation 2004-2009 Prius and other similar Toyota, Lexus or Scion hatchback or SUV vehicles such as the Yaris,  Matrix, Sienna, Highlander, RAV4, FJ Cruiser, Venza, 4Runner, Sequoia, RX 350, RX 450h, GX 460, LX 570, iQ, xD, and xB may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement license plate light bulb is part # 2825 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE and Eiko. You could also other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the # 168, 175, 194 or an LED unit from Putco.

The only tool needed to replace the license plate light bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver.
