Removal & Speaker Replacement Guide
How to remove the front door panels and
upgrade the door speakers in a 2007-2012 Nissan Versa hatchback or sedan.

This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the 1st generation 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012 Nissan Versa hatchback or sedan in removing the
front door panels to upgrade the OEM speakers, add soundproofing
material or replace the power window motor. Owners of other related vehicles such as the Nissan Tiida, Latio, Cube, Leaf, Altima, Sentra, Maxima, Rogue, Murano, Xterra, Note, Micra, Wingroad, Grand Livina, Pulsar, Sunny, Almera, Aprio, Platina, Dodge Trazo, Dacia Logan, Sandero, Renault Clio, Modus, Twingo and the Grand Livina may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The only tools needed to detach the front door panels include a standard Phillips head screwdriver and a small flathead screwdriver.An automotive panel removal tool may also be helpful for prying the plastic door panel away from the door frame. |

The first step is to gently pry off the circular
trim piece surrounding the door handle with the small flathead screwdriver. Then pry up the plastic panel at the top of the arm rest that contains the power window and door lock switches with the flathead screwdriver. Turn the arm rest panel upside down and disconnect the power plug by pressing the release button before pulling it straight out. |

Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws that are below the armrest panel and set them aside in a safe place. | ||

Lift Door Panel Off |
Now that the two screws have been removed, the
door panel is only held to the metal frame by seven plastic "Christmas" tree
friction fasteners. Place your hand at the bottom of the door panel and gently pull it away from the door frame to remove the lower fasteners. If you have trouble pulling out the bottom of the panel, use a plastic automotive panel pry bar tool or a large flathead screwdriver. Then pull on the other sides of the door panel to disengage all of the Xmas tree fasteners. |

Once all of the fasteners along the bottom edge
and both sides are free, you can carefully lift the door panel up and off
the door frame. Behind the panel, you'll see the OEM door speaker and also the three Phillips head screws that hold the power window motor in place. |

Press the release
tab on the speaker's power plug and pull it straight out of the socket. To detach the original speaker from the door, remove the three Phillips head screws. If the speaker remains stuck to the door frame, pry it off with a flathead screwdriver. |

According to
Crutchfield, the Nissan Versa front door can accommodate a 5 1/4" (5.25"), 6
1/2" (6.5") or 6 3/4" (6.75")
aftermarket speaker with the use of a bracket. If you'd like to reduce road noise and allow your new speakers to sound their best, apply some Dynamat Sound Deadener to the metal door frame. It will help stop vibrations and rattles when you crank up the volume. |

To replace the door
panel, gently lower it down on to the upper lip of the door frame and swing
the bottom part forward.
Be sure to pull the power connector for the window and door lock switches out of the armrest hole. |

Push Friction Fasteners In |
Tighten 2 Screws |
Look between the
plastic door panel and the metal door frame to line up the white plastic
friction fasteners with their corresponding holes. Push all around the door panel to seat the seven fasteners along the bottom and sides. Insert and tighten the two Phillips head screws below the armrest panel that old the door panel to the door frame. |

Snap Arm Rest In Place |
Push the power
connector for the window and door lock switches back into the bottom of the
armrest panel until it clicks in place. Gently push the arm rest panel down into the top of the door panel until it snaps in place. |
