Raise Wiper Arm
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the eighth generation (2016, 2017, 2018 and probably also the 2019 and 2020 model years) Nissan Maxima sports sedan in changing the windshield window wiper blades.

Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Versa, Altima, Juke, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Murano, Xterra, Pathfinder, Sentra, Cube, Armada, Leaf, Quest, Frontier, 370Z, GT-R, Titan, Kicks, NV, NV200, G25, G37, M35 and M37 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM wiper blade sizes in inches are as follows: Driver Side 28" and Passenger Side 16".

A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Bosch ICON 28A & Bosch ICON 16A, Michelin 8028 & Michelin 8016, Trico NeoForm 16-280 & Trico NeoForm 16-160, Rain-X 5079282-2 & Rain-X 5079274-2.

No tools are required to remove and replace the wiper blades.

Locate Black Release Tab
The first step is to lift the metal wiper arm off the windshield until it remains in the raised position by itself.

Rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle.

Locate the small black plastic tab on the mounting bracket at the center of the wiper blade.

Towel Protect Window
Pull the old wiper blade down towards the windshield to remove the plastic mounting bracket from the hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Place a towel on the windshield to protect the window from being cracked, chipped, shattered or scratched just in case the metal wiper arm smacks down on to the glass while you are replacing the wiper blade.

Mounting Bracket
I recommend buying the Bosch ICON 28A and Bosch ICON 16A wiper blades since they have excellent reviews on Amazon.

Line up the plastic mounting bracket in the center of the new wiper blade with the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Line Up Bracket & Hook
Hold the new wiper blade assembly with the rubber blade pointing away from the wiper arm.

Slide the plastic mounting bracket up into the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Lower Blade To Window
You should hear or feel the mounting bracket "click" securely into the metal hook.

Double check that the new wiper blade is secured to the wiper arm.

Gently lower the new wiper blade down to the windshield.

For the best wiper performance, I recommend thoroughly cleaning off the window and applying a glass treatment product that will help repel water such as Rain-X.

Be sure to record the wiper blade change in your car's service records.
