This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the eighth generation (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013,
2014 & 2015) Mitsubishi Lancer in changing a burnt out dome light
bulb in the headliner above the rear passenger seats. Owners of other Mitsubishi vehicles such as the Mirage, Lancer Evolution ("Evo"), Outlander, 3000GT, Diamante, Eclipse, Endeavor, Galant, Montero, ASX, Triton L200 and Raider may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement festoon or "fuse" style bulb is part number DE3175 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, PIAA and Eiko. You can also use a brighter DE3175 LED bulb. The only tool needed to change the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the translucent plastic lens cover. |

Pull Back Metal Tab |
Release Old Bulb |
To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your
screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth. Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch at the rear edge of the lens cover. Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place. If the old bulb was recently turned on, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Pull back the metal electrical contact to release the old bulb from the socket. |

Re-Insert Plastic Tabs |
Pull back the metal
electrical contact and insert a new DE3175
bulb in to the socket. If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try flipping it around 180 degrees in the socket. Re-insert the plastic tabs on the front edge of the lens cover in to the housing. |

Test New Dome Light Bulb |
Slide Switch To "Door" |
Gently pop in the
rear edge of the lens cover. Test the new bulb by sliding the switch to the "On" position. Then slide the switch to the "Door" position so that the dome light will turn on when ever a passenger door is opened. For more,
