This past Sunday my girlfriend thought it would be a good idea for us to take a leisurely drive out to South Beach to enjoy the Florida sunset. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that there was an immigration policy protest happening right in our path on Biscayne Blvd. in downtown Miami close to the Intercontinental Hotel. |

The protest took place directly in front of the Torch of Friendship on Biscayne Boulevard. A raspy voiced woman on a PA system kept shouting out the names of central and south American countries as the crowd cheered for each one. "Cuba!!, Cuba!!, Cuba!!, Uruguay!!, Uruguay!!" Well, you get the point. |

The protesters carried both American flags and flags from Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and other nations. Some had signs that read "Latinos Unidos - Somos Ilegales, No Crimanales", which means "Latinos United, We're illegals, not criminals." |

On the drive back to her place in Coral Gables, she snapped a picture of the Star Island sign and the "Welcome to Miami Beach" sign. We took Alton Rd. back to A1A to go back home and relax. | ||
