Expansive FL Everglades

On one lazy Sunday, when I was perfectly content with relaxing at home, my girlfriend insisted that we go outside and do something.

Somehow we decided on visiting the Loxahatchee Everglades Airboat Tours company.

They are located at 15490 Loxahatchee Road, Boca Raton, FL 33076 in Palm Beach county Florida.

I used to live very close to Loxahatchee in Parkland FL and I remembered that the airboat tour company was located at the end of the road but I hadn't been there or gone on a tour in years.

Small Young Alligator

I visited their website just to check out the schedule (tours start at 10am and run all through the day), and I saw a 15% off coupon which I printed out to save us a few bucks. We went on the 45 minute tour with a father and his son. The Loxahatchee Evergales Airboat Tour company has a variety of air boats to accommodate their customers. We went on the "Eagle" that can carry up to 8 passengers. Each of their boats has stadium style seating where you are higher up than the people in front of you allowing for an unobstructed view.

Florida Alligator

In the Florida Everglades a variety of wildlife can be seen, including alligators, turtles, egrets, herons, hawks, vultures, brown water snakes, ibis birds, and an occasional cotton mouth moccasin snake. On our airboat tour we saw a few young alligators, some sort of snake, a turtle, and a few birds. I don't remember which specific species we saw. The Florida Everglades is the only subtropical preserve in the United States and expands over several hundred thousand acres of wetlands.

The Florida Everglades National Park contains such a vast amount of wildlife and unique vegetation that it would take me forever to describe it all on this page. If you're ever in the South Florida area, I highly recommend that you take an airboat tour with the Loxahatchee Everglades company.
