Engine Air Filter Replacement Guide
How to change the 3.3L V6 engine's air
filter element in a 3rd generation 2015, 2016, 2017 or 2018 Kia Sedona.

| This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and perhaps
also the updated 2019 and 2020 model years) Kia Sedona minivan in
cleaning or changing the engine air filter element for the 3.3 liter
V6 motor. Owners of other Kia or Hyundai models such as the Grand Carnival, Sorento, Sportage, Niro, Soul, K900, Stinger, Cadenza, Optima, Rio, Forte, Genesis, Sonata, Ioniq, Santa Fe, Tucson, Elantra and Accent may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement engine air filters with their part numbers include the following: Kia 28113-A9100, EcoGard XA10460, Fram CA11943, Wix WA10271, F1Auto FA9155 and Premium Guard PA99071. No tools are needed to access, remove and replace the engine air filter element. |

| The first two steps
are to open the hood and then move to the right (driver) side of the engine
bay. The black plastic engine air filter box is located just behind the 12V automotive battery and to the left of the engine bay fuse box. Gently pull up on the front edge of the air filter access flap to swing open the cover. Then locate the two grey plastic latches that lock the filter tray in place. Swing the two tabs down from the locked position to the unlocked position. |

| Carefully slide the
black plastic filter tray straight out of the engine air box. Inspect both sides of the old air filter. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with dirt, dust, sand, insects, twigs, hair, pollen, leaves, soot and other debris, it should be replaced with a new element. I recommend buying the OEM engine air filter which is Kia / Hyundai part number 28113-A9100. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum cleaner. |

| If your vacuum
cleaner has a crevice attachment, clean out any leaves, sand or debris
inside the air box. Orientate the new air filter assembly with the grey plastic locking tabs facing towards the front of the minivan. Gently slide the new air filter into the slot until it is fully seated. |

| Rotate the two gray
plastic lock mechanisms up to secure the new air filter in place. Swing the black plastic flap closed over the new filter assembly. Push on the flap to secure the access cover in place. Be sure to record the engine air filter change in your vehicle's service records. For more,
