Headlight Bulbs Replacement Guide
How to change a low / high beam, front
turn signal, parking or side marker light bulb in a 2012 to 2016 Kia Rio.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and also the
revised 2016 model year) Kia Rio in changing a burnt out combination
low & high beam, front turn signal, parking light or side marker
bulbs in the headlight assemblies. Owners of other Kia and Hyundai vehicles such as the Optima, Forte, Cadenza, K900, Sorento, Sportage, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Sonata, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe, Genesis and Equus may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Replacement bulbs with their part numbers are as follows: Dual Low & High Beam # 9003, Front Turn Signal # 2357A or 2357NA, Parking Light # 2825 and Front Side Marker # 2825. No tools are needed to replace any of the bulbs in either the driver side or passenger side headlight housings. |

Pull Off Power Plug |
The first two steps
are to open the hood and then move to the side of the vehicle with the burnt
out headlight bulb. The dual filament combination Low / High Beam Headlight bulb is located at the center of the housing. Reach in behind the headlight housing and rotate the round black plastic dust cap 1/4 turn counterclockwise to remove it. Set the plastic cover aside in a safe place. Pull the black plastic electrical connector straight off the base of the old headlight bulb. |

Swing Out Retaining Arm |
The headlight bulb
is held in place by a metal retaining arm. Press in the bottom edge of the metal arm and pull it out of the hook. Swing the metal retaining arm open. |

Pull Out Old Headlight Bulb |
9003 Halogen Low/High Beam |
Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket. | ||

Insert New # 9003 Bulb |
Swing Closed Metal Arm |
Try to avoid
touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or
anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with an alcohol moistened paper towel. Insert a new # 9003 dual filament low / high beam headlight bulb in to the socket. Swing the metal retaining arm closed over the new bulb. |

Twist On 1/4 Turn Clockwise |
Re-attach the end
of the metal retaining arm to the hook to secure the new bulb in place. Push the power plug straight on to the base of the new bulb. Replace the plastic dust cap by rotating it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction. |

The Front Turn
Signal light bulb is located at the inner corner of the headlight
assembly. Reach in behind the housing and rotate the black plastic bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out. |

Parking Light - Bottom |
Push the old bulb
down in to the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling
it straight out. Push a new amber colored # 2357A or 2357NA bulb down in to the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. Re-insert the socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. The Parking Light bulb is located at the bottom edge of the housing. |

Pull Out Old # W5W Bulb |
Reach in and rotate
the small grey plastic parking light bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise
before pulling it straight out of the housing. Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new # 2825 or W5W bulb. If necessary, you may also use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the # 158, 168, 194 or a compatible LED unit. Re-insert the socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

The Front Side
Marker light bulb is located at the outer edge of the housing. Reach in behind the headlight assembly and rotate the small grey bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out. |

Pull Out Old W5W Bulb |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Test New Headlight Bulbs |
Pull the old bulb
straight out of the socket and push in a new #
2825 or W5W bulb. Re-insert the socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. Test the new light bulbs by turning on the headlights, activating the hazard signals and flashing the high beams. For more,
