This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and possibly also the 2019 and 2020 model years) Jeep Renegade SUV in changing a burnt out dual filament combination low and high beam halogen light bulb in the headlight housing.

Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM or Fiat vehicles such as the 200, 300, Pacifica, Town & Country, Avenger, Charger, Challenger, Journey, Dart, Durango, Magnum, Grand Caravan, Fiat 500 500X or 500L, Fiat 124 Spider, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Compass, Liberty, Patriot, ProMaster, 1500 and C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement halogen low/high beam headlight bulb part number is H13.

If you would like to have brighter headlights, install some H13 LED bulbs.

No tools are needed to access and replace the bulb in either the driver side or passenger side headlight assemblies.

The first two steps are to open the hood and then move to the side of the SUV with burnt out headlight bulb.

Reach in behind the headlight assembly and pull off the protective round rubber dust cover.

Set the rubber cover aside in a safe place.

I recommend installing the Sylvania H13 SilverStar headlight bulbs since they have excellent reviews on Amazon.

There are also H13 LED bulbs available if you would like to have brighter headlights.

The LED bulbs should also have a much longer life span than the traditional halogen bulbs.

Try to avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen headlight bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay.

If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol.

Insert the new headlight bulb in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

Push the electrical connector straight on to the base of the new headlight bulb until it clicks securely into place.

Test New Headlight Bulb
Line up the rubber cover and push it back into place over the back side of the housing.

To test the new bulb, switch on the headlights and flash the high beams.

Be sure to record the bulb change in your SUV's service records.
