This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and possibly
also the 2019 and 2020 model years) Jeep Renegade SUV in changing a
burnt out dome light bulb in the overhead housing attached to the
headliner. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM or Fiat vehicles such as the 200, 300, Pacifica, Town & Country, Avenger, Charger, Challenger, Journey, Dart, Durango, Magnum, Grand Caravan, Fiat 500 500X or 500L, Fiat 124 Spider, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Compass, Liberty, Patriot, ProMaster, 1500 and C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb is part number 2825 (or W5W). You can also use a brighter 2825 LED bulb. The only tool needed to access and replace the light bulb is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool. |

To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend either covering the tip of your
screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a plastic
pry bar tool. Insert the blade of the tool in between the front edge of the lens cover and the housing. Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place. Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily. If the old light bulb was recently turned on, be careful when you remove it. It might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Either pull out the old light bulb with your fingers or use a screwdriver to carefully push it out from the socket. |
