This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012,
2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) Jeep Patriot SUV in checking or
changing a blown fuse or relay in the engine bay electrical panel. Owners of other Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat and RAM vehicles such as the Compass, Renegade, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, 500, Town & Country, 200, 300, Pacifica, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, RAM 1500, C/V Tradesman and ProMaster Van may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The Jeep Patriot is equipped with standard mini blade fuses which can be purchased at Walmart, Pep Boys, Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, Discount Auto Parts or online at Amazon. A yellow plastic fuse puller tool should be included on the engine bay electrical panel. If the tool is missing, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers with rubber insulated handles. |

Grasp Old Fuse |
The first two steps
are to open the hood and then move to the right side of the engine bay. The black plastic fuse box or "integrated power module" is located next to the engine air box and in front of the driver side shock tower. Place the fuse puller tool or the needle nose pliers over the old fuse you'd like to check or change. |

Pull Old Fuse Out of Socket |
Hold Up Old Fuse To Light |
Push In New Fuse |
Pull the old fuse
straight out of the socket. Check the condition of the old fuse by holding it up to a light source. If the thin metal bar in the translucent plastic center of the old fuse appears to be intact, it is probably still good. But since new fuses are so inexpensive, it should still be replaced as part of your electrical problem troubleshooting process. If the metal strip in the middle of the old fuse appears to be burnt or broken, then it is most likely "blown" and needs to be replaced. Push a new mini blade fuse of the same amperage rating (e.g. 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25) straight in to the socket. |

Push On Fuse Box Cover |
Fuse Replaced |
Line up the fuse
box cover and gently push it back in to place to secure the retaining clips. Test the electrical component that wasn't working properly. If you are still having the same electrical issue, you might have a shorted wire or the component itself is faulty and needs to be replaced. For more,
