How to change the rear windshield window
wiper blade on a 4th generation WK2 2011-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.

Pull Off Base Cover |
This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the 4th generation "WK2" (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015
and
2016) Jeep Grand Cherokee in changing the rear windshield window
wiper blade. Owners of other Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and RAM SUV or minivan vehicles such as the Town & Country, Patriot, Compass, Cherokee, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, and C/V Tradesman may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement rear wiper blade is 12" (inches) in size. Some replacement blades with their part numbers are as follows: Anco AR-12A, Trico 12-A, Bosch H307, Michelin 9512 and Valeo R-12E. No tools are needed to replace the rear window wiper blade. |

Swing Open Base Cover |
Pull Wiper Arm Off Window |
The first step is
to pop open the plastic cover at the base of the rear window wiper arm that
hides the mounting nut and bolt. Swing the cover open from the right to the left (driver) side of the vehicle. Lift the wiper arm off the rear window until it is almost perpendicular and stays in the up position by itself. |
|
Turn Blade Away From Arm |
Pop Old Blade Off Arm Socket |
Rotate the old
wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle.
Continue rotating the old wiper blade until it is almost perpendicular to the wiper arm. Firmly pop the mounting bar in the center of the old wiper blade out of the "C" shaped socket on the wiper arm. I recommend buying the Trico 12-A rear wiper blade since it has great reviews on Amazon. |
|
Mounting Bar & Socket |
Line Up Bar & Socket |
|
|
Hold the new wiper
blade at an angle to the wiper arm. Line up the cylindrical mounting bar in the center of the new 12" rear wiper blade with the "C" shaped socket at the end of the wiper arm. |
|
Snap New Blade On To Arm |
Rotate New Blade Parallel |
Firmly pop in the
mounting bar on the new blade in to the socket on the wiper arm.
Rotate the new blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm. |
|
Lower Arm To Window |
Swing Base Cover Closed |
Lower the wiper arm
back down to the rear windshield window. Swing the plastic cover closed from the left to the right (passenger) side of the vehicle. |
|
Snap Base Cover In Place |
Rear Wiper Blade Replaced |
Gently snap the
cover back in place over the base of the wiper arm. Thoroughly clean the rear window for optimum wiper blade performance. You may also consider treating the glass with a product such as Rain-X which will help repel rain water. (Replacement front windshield wiper blade sizes are as follows: Driver Side 22" (inches) and Passenger Side 21".) For more,
