This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017) Hyundai Veloster in changing a burnt out cargo area light bulb in the "trunk".

Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Elantra, Sonata, Azera, Santa Fe, Tucson, Accent, Ioniq, Genesis, Tiburon, ix20, i20, i30, i40, Veracruz, Optima, Cadenza, K900, Soul, Niro, Sportage, Sorento, Sedona, Rio, Forte and Spectra may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A compatible replacement "festoon" style light bulb is part number DE3175 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA.

If you want a brighter cargo light, choose a compatible DE3175 LED bulb.

The only tool needed to access and replace the light bulb is a small flathead screwdriver.

Pull the light housing out of the plastic cargo area panel.

Push the release tab on the electrical connector before sliding it off the end of the light housing.

Pull off the black plastic rear cover and set it aside in a safe place.

Be careful when you remove the old light bulb. If it was recently turned on, it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Gently pull back the gold / copper colored electrical contact to release the old bulb from the socket.
