This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the 6th generation (2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Hyundai Sonata in
replacing a burnt out license plate light bulb or to install brighter
aftermarket
LED bulbs. Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Elantra, Accent, Veloster, Tucson, Santa Fe, Veracruz, Genesis, Forte, Optima, Rio, Soul, Sedona, Sorento, Tiburon and Sportage may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement bulb for the license plate lights is part # 168 from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, Eiko, Philips, GE and PIAA. You can also use a brighter 168 LED bulb. The only tool needed to replace the license plate light bulbs is a standard Phillips head screwdriver. Use the screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the bulb housing in place. |

Once the two
Phillips head screws are removed, the license plate light bulb housing
should drop out by itself or you may need to gently pry it out. Rotate the light grey bulb socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out of the housing. |
