This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the sixth generation (2011, 2012 & 2013) Hyundai Sonata in replacing a blown electrical fuse in the engine bay or passenger compartment fuse boxes.

The fuse box in the engine compartment contains the fuses for electrical components such as the starter motor, fuel pump, ECU computer module, horn, A/C blower motor, HVAC system, engine fans, windshield wipers and brake lights.

The fuse box in the passenger compartment near the driver's left knee contains the fuses for electrical devices such as the power seat, trunk release, power windows, radio, 12V DC power outlets, sun roof, door locks and airbags.

The only tool needed to replace the fuses is the white plastic fuse puller, which is included in the engine bay fuse box.

The engine bay fuse box is located on the driver's side in between the shock tower and the battery.

To open the fuse box cover, press on the release tab at the front of the box and the second release tab located closer to the rear of the engine bay. Lift the cover straight off the fuse box.

The white plastic fuse puller tool is located near the shock tower and next to a group of colorful wires. On this 2011 Sonata, the fuse puller tool has blue and red marker lines on it.

Hold the fuse up to a light source to see if it has been blown.

If the metal strip running through the center fuse appears to be intact, it should still be in working condition.

If the metal strip is broken, the fuse has been "blown" and should be replaced with a new one of the same amperage rating.
