This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 2nd generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Honda Fit or Honda Jazz vehicles in cleaning or replacing the air filter element of the L15A7 VTEC 1.5 liter inline four cylinder engine.

Owners of previous generation 2001-2007 Fit or Jazz vehicles, or similar Honda Global Small Car models such as the Airwave, Partner, Mobilio, Freed, Logo, City, and Aria may also find this guide to be useful.

Some compatible replacement engine air filters for the 2009 to 2014 Honda Fit (or Jazz) including the following with their part numbers: Fram CA10650, K&N 33-2422, Wix # 49460, Purolator Classic A26052, Beck Arnley 042-1800, and the Honda 17220-RB0-000.

No tools are needed to remove the engine air filter.

A wet/dry shop vacuum can be useful for removing debris from the air filter or the air box.

The air box of a Honda Fit L15A series engine is located just to the right of the motor and to the left of the battery.

To release the top of the air box, press the two metal retaining clips at the front of the box downwards.

Then release the fasteners on either side of the air box by pushing the black plastic tab towards the corresponding outside edges of the vehicle.

Once the two front clips and the two side fasteners are released, you can pull up the top half of the air box.

Lift up the old air filter by using the black plastic tab located on the front driver side corner of the filter.

Install Cleaned / New Filter
If the old engine air filter in your Honda Fit looks relatively clean like the one in the pictures above, you could just tap out any large debris and vacuum out the dust with a wet/dry shop vacuum before replacing it.

I recommend buying the Fram CA10650 engine air filter since it has excellent reviews on Amazon.

Re-install the cleaned air filter or insert a new air filter element back into the bottom half of the air box.

Be sure to align the tab at the front driver side corner of the air filter with the slot in the lower half of the air box.

Push the air hose on the rear of the upper air box halve into the intake and then lower the upper air box over the lower part of the air box.

Snap on the two side fasteners and push on the two front metal clips to secure the two halves of the air box together.

Double check that the upper halve of the air box rests flush with the lower halve.
