This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 8th generation (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2011) Honda Civic in replacing the overhead dome light bulb.

Owners of other similar Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Accord, Crosstour, CR-V, CR-Z, Element, Fit, Insight, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, RL, TL. TSX, ZDX, MDX, and RDX may also find these instructions to be helpful.

A replacement dome "festoon" style light bulb for the Civic is part number DE3022 from Sylvania and other manufacturers.

If you would like to have a brighter dome light, install a compatible DE3022 LED bulb.

The only tool needed to complete this procedure is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

A small coin, butter knife, or car key may also work if you don't have a screwdriver available.

Part # DE3022 Bulb
I found it easiest to sit in the back seat of the car to work the dome light.

Use the flathead screwdriver to gently pry off the translucent dome light lens cover.

Try to avoid letting it fall to the ground just in case it may become damaged.

Pop out the old # DE3022 light bulb with the screwdriver.

Push in a new bulb and test it by sliding the ON/OFF switch to "ON".

If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try flipping it around in the socket.

Replace the lens cover by gently snapping it back into place.

It should go in relatively easily, so don't force it into place.
