Replacement Guide
How to change a burnt out fog light bulb
in the front bumper cover of a 1st generation 2007 to 2016 GMC Acadia SUV.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012,
2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) GMC Acadia in changing a burnt out fog
light bulb in the front bumper cover. Owners of other General Motors vehicles such as the Buick Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Cascada, Encore, Enclave, Envision, GMC Canyon, Sierra 1500, Terrain, Yukon, Denali, Savana, Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu, Impala, Volt, Camaro, Corvette, SS, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, Silverado and Express may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement halogen fog light bulb is part number H11 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, PIAA and Eiko. There are also brighter H11 LED bulbs available. The only tool needed to access and replace the fog light bulbs is a Torx T20 star bit screwdriver. |

Loosen Counterclockwise |

Remove 3rd Screw |
The first step is
to turn the steering wheel all the way in the opposite direction of the
burnt out fog light bulb. Turning the front wheels will create more working room in the wheel well for you to access the fog light bulb housing. Remove the four screws along the outer edge of the black plastic wheel well liner by turning them counterclockwise with a Torx T-20 star bit screwdriver. |

Pull Back Splash Guard |
Fog Light Bulb Housing |
Set the four screws
aside in a safe place. Gently pull back the wheel well liner (A.K.A. "splash guard") to access the fog light bulb housing. |

Four T-20 Screws Removed |
1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
Rotate the base of the old fog light bulb 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull it straight out of the housing. | ||

Two Retaining Clips |
Disconnect Power Plug |
Push Plug On New Bulb |
Gently pry back the
two retaining clips on the sides of the old bulb before pulling off the
electrical connector. Try to avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a paper towel moistened with rubbing alcohol. |

Empty Bulb Housing |
Insert New H11 Bulb |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Insert the new #
H11 halogen bulb in to the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure
it in place. If you would like to have brighter fog lights, install some compatible replacement H11 LED bulbs. Push the power plug straight on to the base of the new bulb until it clicks securely in to place. |

Replace Wheel Well Liner |
Tighten Four T20 Screws |
Test New Fog Light Bulb |
Push the wheel well
liner back in to place and re-insert the four screws. Tighten the four screws by turning them clockwise with the Torx T-20 screwdriver until they are snug. Test the new fog light bulbs by turning on the headlights and activating the fog lights switch. For more, check out my other
