This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 12th generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Ford F-150 truck in changing a burnt out overhead dome or map light bulb.

Owners of other F-Series trucks or other Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles such as the Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, Expedition, Explorer, Edge, Escape, E-150, E-250, E-350, Transit Connect, Flex, MKX, MKT, Navigator and Mountaineer may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

This 2013 F-150 is equipped with three # 578 "festoon" or "fuse" style light bulbs in the overhead light housing.

Depending on your model year, the dome or map lights may instead be # 6411 (festoon), # 906 (wedge base) or # 194(miniature wedge base).

The only tool required to remove the lens cover and change the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

2 Map Lights & 1 Dome
Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch on the rear edge of the dome/map light lens cover.

Gently pry off the translucent lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

Behind the lens cover, you'll see the dome light bulb in the center and the two map light bulbs on either side of the housing.
