This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Dodge Dart in changing a burnt out map light bulb in the overhead console or upgrading both bulbs with brighter LED units.

Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge and RAM vehicles such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Avenger, Charger, Journey, Challenger, Durango, Grand Caravan, and Ram C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The replacement bulb part number is 168 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA.

You may also be able to use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the # W5W, 2825, 158, 194 or an LED.

The only tool needed to replace the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

Lens Cover Removed
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, I'd recommend covering the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or use a plastic automotive panel removal tool.

Insert the blade of the screwdriver in between the edge of the lens cover and the overhead console.

Gently pry out the lens cover. You may need to re-insert the screwdriver at more than one location to pop it out.

Old # 168 Light Bulb
If the old bulb was recently illuminated, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.
