Dawes Beach Park

After a campus tour of Northwestern University, we walked over to Dawes Park. This lakefront beach park is located just south of NWU on Sheridan Road.

The park's address is 1700 Sheridan Rd, Evanston, IL 60201. More information can be obtained by telephone at (312) 943-5151.

We visited on a holiday weekend and there was still plenty of free parking along Sheridan Road. Visitors without a city parking permit can also park along any of the side streets for up to two hours.

Some of the features of Dawes Park include a sandy beach, picnic areas, a bicycle trail, a jogging trail and a dog beach.

A few events are held at Dawes Park such as Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival, the Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival.

Lake Michigan

The fun at Dawes Park doesn't stop in the winter since ice skaters flock to the park's lagoon and families come out to play in the snow. But leave your best friend at home during winter, because the Evanston Dog Beach at Dawes Park is only open from May to October.
