This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the revised 5th generation (2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Chrysler Town & Country in changing the key fob battery.

Owners of related Chrysler Group minivan vehicles such as the Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Grand Voyager, Lancia Grand Voyager, Ram C/V Tradesman Cargo Van and the Volkswagen Routan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement coin cell (A.K.A. "button" or "watch") key fob battery is part number CR2032 available from manufacturers such as Panasonic, Sony, GE, Duracell, Energizer, Maxell and Philips.

The only tool needed to access the battery is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry apart the two halves of the fob. You could also use a coin, key, butter knife or nail file.

The first step is to slide the small button on the front of the fob to release the metal ignition key.

Set the ignition key aside in a safe place.

Insert a small flathead screwdriver in to the notch at the bottom of the fob where the metal key used to reside.

Gently pry apart the two halves of the fob.

Test New Fob Battery
Push the metal ignition key straight in to the slot until it clicks securely in to place.

Test the new battery by standing near your Town & Country and pressing the "Lock" or "Unlock" buttons. If the battery is working properly, you should see the parking lights flash and/or hear a short honk of the horn.
