How to change a burnt out rear passenger courtesy reading light bulb by the grab handle in a 2011 to 2017 Chrysler 300.

This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017) Chrysler 300, 300C or 300S sedan in changing a burnt out rear passenger courtesy reading light bulb in the housing by the overhead grab handle.

Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM vehicles such as the Town & Country, 200, Pacifica, Avenger, Charger, Journey, Challenger, Dart, Durango, Magnum, Grand Caravan, Grand Cherokee, Renegade, Wrangler, Compass, Liberty, Patriot, ProMaster, 1500 and C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The replacement bulb is part number 2825 (or W5W) which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, PIAA and Eiko.

You can also install a brighter 2825 LED unit.

The only tool needed to access and replace the map light bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to either cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or you can use a plastic automotive pry bar tool.

Pull down the grab handle to access the lens cover.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in between the front edge of the lens cover and the light housing.

Gently pry out the front edge of the lens cover and remove the tab at the rear edge from the housing.

Carefully push the old bulb straight out of the socket from the base with the small flathead screwdriver.

Push In New 2825 Bulb
Push a new # 2825 bulb straight in to the socket.

If necessary, you can also use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the number 168, 158, 194, W5W or a compatible LED unit.

Test New Light Bulb
Line up the lens cover and re-insert the plastic tab on the rear edge in to the housing.

Gently snap in the front edge of the lens cover.

Release the grab handle.

To test the new light bulb, press the indentation on the front part of the lens cover to activate the "On/Off" switch.
