This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically created to assist
owners of the first generation (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006)
Acura MDX in changing a burnt out vanity mirror light bulb or upgrading them both to brighter LED units. Owners of other Acura or Honda vehicles such as the RDX, ILX, TLX, RLX, TL, CL, RSX, RL, TSX, ZDX, NSX, Integra, Pilot, Accord, Civic, Fit, Clarity, CR-V, CR-Z, HR-V, Odyssey, Element and Ridgeline may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement miniature fuse style bulbs with their part numbers include the following: TS-14V1CP, TS-14V1.5CP, 6614F, Eiko 40842, ACDelco 13502343, Putco 230003 and the iJDMTOY 3-SMD-5050 LED. The only tool needed to access and replace the light bulbs is a flathead screwdriver or a small plastic pry bar tool. |

To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend either covering the tip of your
screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or use a small plastic
trim panel removal tool. Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the notch located at the top edge of the translucent plastic lens cover. Gently pry out the retaining clip at the top edge of the lens cover. Swing open the lens cover and lift out the tab at the bottom edge from the light housing. |

Pry Out Bottom of Bulb |
Old Light Bulb Removed |
Use the screwdriver
to carefully pry out the bottom metal end cap of the old light bulb. Do not apply force to the glass part of the old light bulb to prevent from having it shatter and send shards of glass flying into your face and eyes. Be careful when you pull out the old light bulb. If it was recently turned on, it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. |

Any miniature fuse
style light bulbs that are about 29mm, 30mm or 31mm in size should fit.
A few compatible replacement light bulbs include the TS-14V1CP, 6614F or ACDelco 13502343. Line up the new light bulb with the socket. |

Push In New Light Bulb |
Line Up Lens Cover |
Close Lens Cover |
Push the new light
bulb straight into the socket. It should light up immediately. If it doesn't, try opening and closing the mirror cover or press the "Unlock" button on the key fob to re-activate the interior lights. If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work, try removing it, rotating it 180 degrees and pushing it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when installed in the correct orientation. Line up the lens cover with the light housing. |
||
Snap In Retaining Clip |
Test New Vanity Bulbs |
Close Mirror Cover |
Re-insert the tab
on the bottom edge of the lens cover. Swing the lens cover closed. Gently pop in the retaining clip on the top edge of the lens cover. To test the new vanity light bulbs, open and close the mirror cover or press the "Unlock" button on the key fob to re-activate the interior lights. Be sure to record the bulb change in your vehicle's service records. For more,
