Owners of other Acura or Honda vehicles such as the RDX, ILX, TLX, RLX, TL, CL, RSX, RL, TSX, ZDX, NSX, Integra, Pilot, Accord, Civic, Fit, Clarity, CR-V, CR-Z, HR-V, Odyssey, Element  and Ridgeline may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement coin cell (A.K.A. "button" or "watch") battery is part number CR2025 which is available from various manufacturers such as Panasonic, Sony, Energizer, Duracell and Maxell.

The only tool needed to access and replace the battery is a small flathead screwdriver or a small plastic pry bar tool.

Locate the small notch or "slot" on the bottom edge of the fob near the red "Panic" key and the key ring hole.

To prevent from scratching or marring the plastic surfaces, you may choose to either cover the tip of your flathead screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a small plastic automotive trim panel removal pry bar tool.

Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the the small notch and gently pry apart the two halves of the fob housing.

Once the key fob is disassembled, you'll see the green circuit board on the rear of the front half and the coin cell battery socket in the back half.

Try to avoid bending or damaging the metal electrical contacts.

The OEM battery was a Panasonic CR2025 3 volt lithium coin battery.

Push the new CR2025 battery into the socket with the "+" positive side facing down and the "-" negative side facing up towards you.

Double check that the front and rear cover of the key fob shell are flush together at every edge.

To test the new key fob battery, stand near your SUV and press the "Unlock" or "Lock" buttons.

If the new battery is working properly, you should see the parking lights flash and also hear the door locks opening and closing.
