This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation (2016, 2017, 2018 and the revised
2019 and 2020 model years) Hyundai Tucson SUV in changing a burnt
out light bulb in the housing attached to the headliner above the
sun visor and vanity mirror. Owners of other Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles such as the Santa Fe, Kona, Elantra, Sonata, Accent, Veloster, Ioniq, Nexo, G80, G90, Stinger, Rio, Forte, Optima, Cadenza, K900, Soul, Niro, Sportage, Sorento and Sedona may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement miniature festoon style light bulb part number is DE3175. For brighter vanity lights, install some DE3175 LED bulbs. The only tool needed to access and replace the light bulbs is a small plastic pry bar tool or a flathead screwdriver. |

To prevent from
tearing the fabric headliner or scratching the plastic light housing, you
could either cover your screwdriver with a micro fiber cloth or use a
plastic pry bar tool. Insert the tool in between the headliner and the side of the light housing with the "On/Off" switch. Gently pry out the light housing to release the metal retaining clip. Carefully pull the light housing out of the opening in the headliner. |

Light Housing Replaced |
Test New Light Bulb |
To test the new
light bulb, move the "On / Off" rocker switch to the "On" position. If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, you may need to remove it, rotate it 180 degrees and push it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when installed in the correct orientation. For more,
