Gently Pry Out Lens Cover
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and perhaps also the face lifted 2017 model year) Hyundai Santa Fe in changing a burnt out map light bulb in the overhead console or upgrading both of them to brighter LED units.

Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Optima, Cadenza, K900, Sorento, Sportage, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Sonata, Azera, Tucson, Forte, Genesis, Cerato, Spectra, Accent, Sephia, i20, i30, ix35, i40 and Equus may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement festoon or "fuse" style light bulb is part number DE3175. You can also use a brighter LED unit.

The only tool needed to access and replace the map light bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a plastic pry bar tool.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in between the front edge of the lens cover (closest to the windshield) and the overhead console.

Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily.

Empty Bulb Socket
The Sylvania lamp replacement guide lists the DE3425 as being the correct replacement bulb, but it appears to be a bit larger than the DE3175 bulb that most Hyundai and Kia vehicles use for the map lights.

If you choose to upgrade both of your map lights with brighter LED bulbs, choose a bulb that is compatible with the DE3175 and is about 29mm, 30mm or 31mm in length.
