Headlight Bulbs Replacement Guide
How to change a burnt out low beam, high
beam or front side marker light bulb in a 2013-2016 Ford Escape SUV.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the 3rd generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and perhaps also
the updated 2017 model year) Ford Escape SUV in changing a burnt out
low beam, high beam or front side marker light bulb in the headlight
housings. Owners of other Ford or Lincoln vehicles such as the Focus, Fusion, C-Max, Mustang, Fiesta, Transit Connect, Edge, Flex, Explorer, Expedition, Taurus, F-150, EcoSport, MKC, MKZ, MKS, MKX, MKT and the Navigator may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The replacement bulbs part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # 9005 or H1 (check your old bulbs) and Side Marker # 168. No tools are needed to change any of the light bulbs in either the driver side or passenger side headlight assemblies. |

Remove Old Bulb |
The first two steps
are to open the hood and then move to the side of the SUV with the burnt out
headlight bulb. The Low Beam bulb is located near the middle of the headlight assembly. Reach in behind the headlight and gently pull off the round black rubber dust cap to reveal the old bulb. Set the dust cover aside in a safe place. Rotate the base of the old bulb 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out of the socket. |

Disconnect Power Plug |
Philips H11 LL Low Beam |
Press in the release tab on the electrical connector before sliding it straight off the base of the old low beam bulb. | ||

Push On Power Plug |
Insert New H11 Bulb |
Try to avoid
touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or
anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a rubbing alcohol moistened paper towel. Insert the new H11 low beam bulb in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

High Beam - Inner Corner |
Push the rubber
dust cover back in to place over the low beam bulb housing. The High Beam bulb is located near the inner corner of the headlight assembly. |

Pull Off Rubber Cover |

Old High Beam Bulb |
Reach in behind the
headlight housing and pull off the round rubber dust cap. Set the rubber dust cover aside in a safe place. |

1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
Old High Beam Removed |
Pull Back Retaining Clip |
Rotate the base of
the old high beam bulb 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull it straight out of
the socket. Gently pull back the retaining clip on the electrical connector before sliding it straight off the base of the old bulb. |

Push On Power Plug |
This 2015 Escape
was equipped with a # 9005 high beam bulb. Some models are instead equipped
with # H1 bulbs. Please check your old bulb or use the Amazon Part Finder website to verify the correct replacement bulb before you purchase new ones. Try to avoid touching the glass part of the new high beam bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a paper towel moistened with rubbing alcohol. Push the power plug straight on to the base of the new high beam bulb until the retaining clip clicks securely in to place. |

Insert New High Beam |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Replace Rubber Cover |
Insert the high
beam bulb in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in
place. Push the rubber dust cap back in to place. |

Front Side Marker |
Grey Plastic Bulb Socket |
1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
The Front Side
Marker light is located at the outer edge of the housing. Rotate the small grey plastic bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out of the housing. |

Pull Out Old Bulb |
Push In New # 168 Bulb |
Side Marker Bulb Housing |
Pull the old bulb
straight out of the socket and push in a new #
168 bulb. If necessary, you may also be able to use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the number 2825, W5W, 158, 194 or a compatible LED unit. |

1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Testing New High Beam Bulb |
Test New Low Beam Bulb |
Re-insert the side
marker bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to
secure it in place. Test the new light bulbs by turning on the headlights, activating the hazards and flashing the high beams. For more,
