This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the seventh generation (2013, 2014, 2015 and possibly also
the revised 2016 and 2017 model years) Nissan Sentra sedan in
cleaning or changing the A/C system's cabin air filter element
located in the HVAC blower motor housing. Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Versa, Maxima, Juke, Rogue, Altima, Xterra, Pathfinder, Murano, Cube, Armada, Leaf, Quest, Frontier, Teana, 370Z, GT-R, Titan, G25, G37, M35, QX56, QX60 and M37 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement filters with their part numbers are as follows: ACDelco CF3294, TYC 800138P, Purolator C28183, Bosch 6078C, Spearhead BE-177, Fram CF11177, EcoGard XC10303, GKI CF1193, Wix # 24012, OEM CAF268P, Premium Guard PC4012 and Denso 453-6031. No tools are needed to access and replace the cabin air filter. |

Gently Pull Down |
Release Retaining Clip |
Remove Filter Access Panel |
The HVAC blower
motor housing is located in front of the center stack of the vehicle. Open the front passenger door and locate the rectangular shaped filter access cover below the glove box and on the left side. Gently pull down the retaining clip on the bottom edge of the filter cover before swinging it open. Pull the tab at the top of the filter cover, which is attached to a flexible "C" shaped piece", straight out of its slot. |

Set the filter access panel aside in a safe place. | ||
Pull Out Old Filter |
Old Filter Removed |
|
Grasp the pull tab
on the old filter and slide it straight out of its slot in the HVAC blower
motor housing. You may need to compress the old filter in order to remove it from the slot. |

De-Compress Old Filter |
Empty Filter Slot |
Inspect Both Sides |
Inspect both sides
of the old cabin air filter. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum cleaner. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with pollen, dust, dirt, hair, leaves, insects, twigs, soot or other debris, it should be replaced with a new element. I'd recommend buying the TYC 800138P cabin air filter since it has the best reviews on Amazon. |

Shake Out Debris |
Orientate "Front" Arrow |
Compress New Filter |
Orientate the new
filter with the "Front" arrow pointing towards the front of the car. (If the new filter has an "Air Flow" arrow, it should be pointing towards the rear of the car.) Compress the new air filter and slide it in to the slot. |
||
Slide Filter In To Slot |
Installing New Cabin Filter |
New Filter Installed |
Continue sliding in
the new air filter until it is all the way in to the slot in the HVAC blower
motor housing. Don't worry if the new filter is not perfectly even or flush with the opening in the slot. It will still filter all of the air with no degradation in its performance. |
||
Line Up Filter Access Cover |
Push On Filter Panel |
Cabin Filter Replaced |
Re-insert the tab
at the top of the filter access panel in to its slot. Gently push on the bottom end of the filter cover to secure the retaining clip. Double check that the filter access cover is securely in place. Enjoy the fresh clean air from your A/C system! Be sure to record the filter change in your vehicle's service records. For more,
