Over the recent 2008 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, we helped a family member shop for a new vehicle in Gainesville, FL.

We visited some of the largest dealerships in town including Gatorland Toyota, Gainesville Nissan, Hyundai of Gainesville, Palm Chevrolet, Wade Raulerson Pontiac, Wade Raulerson Honda and Gatorland Kia.

We test drove all of the most popular 2009 mid sized sedans in the class such as the Nissan Altima, Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata, Pontiac G6 Sedan, Toyota Camry, Chevy Malibu and the Honda Accord.

As I'm sure you can already tell, we chose the Honda Accord as the best car out of all the automobiles we examined. It is an "LX Premium" model with "Alabaster Silver Metallic" paint and a grey cloth interior.

The other cars had their good points but the Honda Accord seemed to be the best fit for this person's lifestyle.

The 2009 Nissan Altima had a really nice CVT (continuously variable transmission) but the dealership wanted too much money for the base model.

The Hyundai Sonata (almost the same car as the Kia Optima) seemed like a well put together vehicle with an amazing warranty but the interior looked a bit cheap.

I thought that the Pontiac G6 sedan looked great but it was a bit too "sporty" for this person.

On the other hand, the Toyota Camry base model reminded us too much of an older person's car.

The last car we test drove was the new 2009 Chevrolet Malibu which was a really sharp looking car but we were worried about its long term reliability.

Manufactured In November 08
This 2009 Honda Accord LX Premium sedan has a MSRP price of $23,225.

The dealership was offering either 0% financing for 36 months or 3.9% for 60 months with an instant rebate off the price.

They also gave us a generous $4000 trade in value discount off the final price for a base model 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5 with about 100,000 miles.

As you can see in the picture of the vehicle's sticker, this particular car was manufactured in 11/08 in Ohio and we were test driving it in late November.

We really liked that it had not been sitting on the lot for months and that it only had a few miles on the odometer.

This 2009 Honda Accord LX Premium sedan features a 177 HP 2.4 Liter 16 Valve DOHC i-VTEC 4 Cylinder Engine, a 5 speed automatic transmission, a 100K (100,000 Miles) no scheduled tune-ups maintenance schedule, a double wishbone front suspension, a drive-by-wire throttle system, an independent multi-link rear suspension, front & rear stabilizer bars, and a variable gear ratio (VGR) power assisted rack & pinion steering system.

The safety features of the vehicle include 3 point seat belts with an automatic tensioning system, adjustable front seat belt anchors, dual stage / dual threshold front airbags (SRS), dual chamber front side airbags, a passenger side occupant position detection system (OPDS), side curtain airbags, driver / front passenger active head restraints, brake assist, advanced compatibility engineering (ACE) body structure, vehicle stability assist (VSA), traction control, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), four wheel disc brakes, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), daytime running lights (DRL), side impact door beams, outboard lower anchors & tethers for children (LATCH), child seat tether anchor, and an emergency interior trunk release.

The interior features are air conditioning with an air filtration system, power door locks, cruise control, power windows with auto up/down in the front, center console with sliding armrest, storage compartment, illuminated steering wheel mounted audio & cruise controls, 8 way power driver's seat, 160 watt AM/FM/CD stereo system with 6 speakers, MP3/WMA playback capability, and MP3/Auxilliary audio input jack, a speed sensitive volume control (SVC), a tilt & telescopic steering column, and a "Maintenance Minder" system.

The exterior features of the car include 16 inch alloy wheels, flat blade windshield wipers, a remote entry system with power window control, multi-reflector halogen headlights with auto-off, a chrome exhaust tip, body colored power side mirrors, a security system, and body colored door handles.

We opted to decline the dealership's offers for an extended warranty since they are rarely a good deal and Honda is known for great long term reliability. The final monthly payment ended up being about $350 for 60 months with no prepayment penalty.

Some of the things we liked best about this 2009 Honda Accord LX Premium sedan were the big panoramic windshield, the comfortable seats, the padded armrests for every passenger, the eye catching driver's instrument panel, the great audio system, the spacious trunk, the sporty alloy wheels,  the smooth but powerful engine, the roomy & quiet interior, the supple ride of the suspension and the excellent build quality throughout the vehicle.
