Reverse Light Bulbs Replacement Guide
How to change a burnt out reverse light
bulb in the tailgate door of a 1st generation 2003 to 2008 Honda Pilot SUV.

| This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and
2008) Honda Pilot SUV in changing a burnt out reverse (or "back up")
light bulb located in the tailgate door. Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Accord, Civic, Crosstour, CR-V, CR-Z, Fit, Insight, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, ILX, TSX, TLX, TL, RLX, RDX, NSX and MDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 921 or W16W. If you would like to have much brighter reverse lights, there are 921 LED options available. The only tool needed to access and replace the reverse light bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool. |

| The first two steps
are to open the tailgate door and then move to the side with the burnt out
license plate light bulb. Locate the rectangular shaped access cover on the bottom section of the interior tailgate panel. Insert the blade of a flathead screwdriver or the plastic pry bar tool in to the small notch at the bottom edge of the access cover. Gently pry out the bottom edge of the access cover and remove the two tabs on the top edge. Set the access cover aside in a safe place. |

 1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
 Remove Bulb Socket |
| Rotate the reverse light bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull it straight out of the housing. | ||

 Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
 Push In New # 921 Bulb |
 1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
| Pull the old light
bulb straight out of the socket. Push a new number 921 light bulb straight in to the socket. If you would like to have brighter reverse lights, install some compatible 921 LED bulbs. Re-insert the bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

| Line up the access
cover and re-insert the two tabs on the top edge. Then gently snap in the bottom edge of the cover. To test the new light bulbs, have someone step on the brake pedal and shift the transmission in to reverse. For more, check out all of my
