Honda Pilot
Rear Wiper Blade Replacement Guide
How to change the rear wiper blade on the
back windshield window of a 1st generation 2003 to 2008 Honda Pilot.
2006 Pilot Rear Wiper |
Remove Base Cap (Optional) |
This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and
2008) Honda Pilot SUV in changing the rear wiper blade on the back
windshield window. Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Accord, Civic, Crosstour, CR-V, CR-Z, Fit, Insight, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, ILX, TSX, TLX, TL, RLX, RDX, NSX and MDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM rear wiper blade size in inches is 14". A few compatible 14" wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Bosch H354, Michelin 9514, Trico 14-B, Anco AR-14B, Valeo R14G and Silblade WB114S. No tools are required to remove the old wiper blade and install the new one. |

Base Cap Removed (Optional) |
Raise Wiper Arm Off Glass |
On another SUV we
used to own, replacing the rear wiper blade required pulling off the plastic
trim cover on the base of the wiper arm.
So I did the same thing on this 2006 Honda Pilot and the brittle old plastic cracked. Then I realized that the base cap did not need to be removed in order to replace the wiper blade. I recommend that you not remove the base cap to prevent from having it break. The first step is to lift the wiper arm off the back windshield window until it remains in the raised position by itself. |
|
Rotate Blade Away From Arm |
Gently Pop Bar Out of Socket |
Rotate the old
wiper blade away from the wiper arm. Continue carefully rotating the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm. You will feel the mounting bar at the center of the old wiper blade pop out of the "C" shaped socket at the end of the wiper arm. |

Old Wiper Blade Detached |
"C" Shaped Socket |
I bought the
Bosch H354 14" rear wiper blade
since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. Another good wiper blade choice that has great reviews from other 1st generation Pilot owners is the Trico 14-B. |

Mounting Bar In Blade |
New Bosch H354 Blade |
Line up the new
wiper blade with the wiper arm. The rubber wiper blade should be pointing away from the wiper arm. |
|
Line Up Bar & Socket |
Insert Mounting Bar In Socket |
Hold the new wiper
blade at an angle with the wiper arm. Re-insert the mounting bar at the center of the wiper blade in to the "C" shaped socket at the end of the wiper arm. |
|
Rotate New Blade Parallel |
Lower Blade To Window |
Continue rotating
the new wiper blade towards the wiper arm until they are parallel. Gently lower the wiper arm down to the back window. |
|
Line Up Plastic Cover |
Pop Trim Cover On Base |
If you removed the
plastic base cap, gently snap it back in to place.
(If your rear wiper blade base cover was damaged or missing the part number is Honda 76721-S2X-003.) For the best wiper performance, I recommend thoroughly cleaning off the back windshield and applying a window treatment product that will help repel water from the glass such as Rain-X.
